2050 Degrees of Change - an evening with CBC News meteorologist and science reporter Johanna Wagstaffe

Please join us for a TREK fundraising event on November 29th/2018.

Join CBC News meteorologist and science reporter Johanna Wagstaffe for an evening exploring the future of B.C. in a warming climate. Building on her reporting and analysis of climate change in her popular podcast 2050: Degrees of Change, Johanna will look at how our world and our lives will be forced to adapt to rising temperatures. What are the worst-case scenarios? How will we deal with melting glaciers, rising sea levels, devastating wildfires and extreme weather? Plus, what can we do, if anything, to change the future? Johanna will discuss the challenges and opportunities around communicating climate science to the public.

Please visit and share our silent auction - https://www.32auctions.com/Trek2018

Teens, Parties and Parenting: (for current TREK parents)

  • Prince of Wales School Library (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join other TREK parents, PW grade 10 counsellor and SACY facilitators to:

  • discuss parenting teens in today's context of parties and social media.
  • hear what TREK students learn about decision-making and health in the area of cannabis, alcohol and other substances
  • learn practical information about substances related to teen social and emotional development

The middle teen years can be a challenging time. We'll talk about myths, realities, and questions like:

  • What makes a party more likely to be safe: if it occurs near a sky train station or not?
  • Is "work hard, party hard" an ethic that works in the same way for youth as it does for adults?
  • What's the difference between setting boundaries and creating rules?

This event will be held in the PW library
